Successful Sarasota Fundraiser Benefits Sex Trafficking Survivors

Selah Freedom is amazingly grateful for raising $352,000 on October 24 at our annual evening of charity and recognition called Rock the Boat against Sex Trafficking. Selah Freedom. Tampa to Sarasota is a leading geographic area in Florida for sex trafficking and our supporters truly showed their dedication to helping to eradicate this epidemic.

Rock the Boat Against Sex Trafficking attracted more than 200 guests to the spectacular rooftop of the Westin Hotel, downtown Sarasota, Florida. Our dedicated, hard-working event co-chairs were Marko Radisic, Jennifer Fox and Elizabeth Moore. Host committee members were Maria Fikus, Lucia Cabriela, Amy & Steve Goldman, Rose Gonzales, Brad Good, Janice & Don Hedman, Tammy & Richard Karp, Donna & David Koffman, Kim Maggio, Sheila Nemes, Donna Peaker Ritzo, Jennifer Smith, Rita Thibault and Barbara Tye. Event sponsors were: It Works! Gives Back Foundation; Holliday Group; Elizabeth Moore; Marko Radisic; Larry & Jennifer Fox; Steve & Amy Goldman; Rita J. Thibault/BDG Architects and Sarasota Magazine.

Deputy Chief Pat Robinson kicked off the night thanking Selah Freedom's VIP supporters for their continued support and stressed the need for further action against sex trafficking. He spoke to the impact Selah Freedom has had on how the Sarasota Police Department prevents sex trafficking and helps victims.

Once the VIP hour had finished, guests spread out across the Westin rooftop to eat, drink, and participate in a live auction. The event raised $176,000 toward a $250,000 matching gift from the Pentecost Family Foundation, for a total of $352,000.

Marko Radisic and fellow co-chair Elizabeth Moore were surprised with a Champion Defender award and a National Champion Defender award respectively for their local and country-wide work advocating for Selah Freedom.  Multiple survivor graduates from Selah Freedom's programs were given pioneer awards, as well, all deserved!

The funds raised by this yearly event helps Selah Freedom provide life-saving programs to help sex trafficking victims and bring freedom to the exploited through our four strong programs: Education & Awareness, Prevention, Outreach and Residential. We see victims of trafficking from every background, every socioeconomic background and every area in Sarasota and beyond. Ask us how you can help stop sex trafficking? Donate to Selah Freedom or report sex trafficking to 1-888-8-FREE-ME.
